Steven Smeltzer discovered his passion for ceramics during his final year of college. Originally intending to create functional pottery, he soon developed his signature whimsical sculptural creatures inspired by Hawaii’s tropical landscapes, the ocean, and the imaginative style of Dr. Seuss.
His sculptures are handcrafted from high-fire stoneware with porcelain clay eyes. Each piece is finished with oxide stains and hand-painted acrylic colors, creating the distinctive look that has become his hallmark.
