This lot contains a print of "An Elegant Tea Party In The Artists Studio" by French painter, pastelist and illustrator Madeleine Jeanne Lemaire. Lemaire specialized in elegant genre works. Her family and social status helped her gain credibility as an artist despite her gender. Lemaire was the daughter of General Baron Joseph Habert and niece of famous miniaturist Mathilde Herbelin. The financial situation of her family helped her develop social skills that helped perpetuate her work in the art world. The frame is approx 36" x 43" while the print itself is approx 18 1/2" x 26". The frame and print together weigh approx 21lbs. The print and frame are in good condition with no noticeable flaws.
