Antique Sterling Desk Seal With Carved Bone Handle
Believed to date from the 1830s, this is an exquisite desk seal matrix in sterling silver with a carved bone handle. The bottom part used to imprint in the wax or clay is sterling silver, with ornate patterns around the sides. The carved bone handle is shaped is tapered, with ridges down the side. Based on the silver hallmarks, this piece is believed to date from the 1840s and is French in origin.
