One-page handwritten letter dated November 17, 1840, written from New York and signed by James Kirke Paulding. The letter references an application for appointment as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps and is addressed to the Hon. Secretary of the Navy. Matted display with small portrait image at right.
