Antique Gilt Bronze Peasant By P. L. Kowalczewski
Gilt bronze statue from the turn of the century by Paul Ludwig Kowalczewski. The piece depicts a shirtless Eastern European peasant carrying a sack of grain over his shoulder, walking barefoot. Kowalczewski was a well-known Polish sculptor born in 1865 whose subjects included laborers, mythical/historical figures, and different physiques. In good condition with age appropriate wear.
