1552 Copy Of Royal Charter of Clermont, France
In 1551, the Crown took direct control of the city of Clermont in Auvergne, France. In 1552, Catherine de Medici (appointed regent, while her husband King Henry II was fighting the Italian War) restored local rule to the town. This is a period copy of the new royal charter of the city, handwritten on paper.
There is a not on the back of the paper, that appears to be from a later time describing the document and dating it to June 20th, 1552.
The document is in good condition for nearly 500 years old, with some rough edges and light staining.
