Art Nouveau gilt bronze jewelry box or casket keepsake featuring a sculptural female figure surrounded by flowing hair and floral motifs in the Art Nouveau style. The hinged box is cast in relief with organic, curvilinear forms typical of French decorative metalwork from the late 19th to early 20th century. Signed Madurell along the base, consistent with works attributed to Francois Madurell, known for Art Nouveau figural metal objects and decorative castings.
The box opens to a fitted interior with original patina present throughout. Surface wear, blue/green pigment, and age-related rubbing are visible, consistent with age and material. No maker’s foundry mark observed beyond the artist’s signature. This item is in good pre-owned, previously displayed condition with light wear and surface markings.
