This lot contains Framed Print On Wood Board Of Odilon Redon’s (April 20, 1840 – July 6, 1916)

Betrand-Jean Redon, commonly known as Odilon Redon, was born in Bordeaux, Aquitaine, France. He was a Symbolist painter and printmaker who gained recognition under Odilon, a nickname derived from his mother’s name, Odile. At the age of 15, he began his formal education in drawing.
Redon first gained popularity in 1884 when he was featured in the cult novel "Rebours" (Against Nature) by Joris-Karl Huysmans. The story featured a wealthy aristocrat who collected Redon’s drawings.
"In the 1890s, Redon began using pastels and oils, which became the primary mediums in his artwork.
His popularity surged in 1913 when André Mellerio published a catalog of his etchings and lithographs."
In 2005, the Museum of Modern Art launched an exhibition titled "Beyond the Visible." This exhibition was a comprehensive overview of Redon’s work.
The frame is approx 27" x 20 1/4" x 1 1/2" and the wood board is approx 22 1/2" x 16". Total weight is approx 3.5lbs. Overall the Framed print matted onto the wood board is in good pre owned condition with some very minor chips and scratches as shown in the images.
